**Malkangiri:** In order to ensure security measures at the ‘Gurupriya Setu’ that will act as a major connecting link for the residents of cut-off areas in Malkangiri district, the administration has now installed closed circuit television (CCTV) cameras at different locations for keeping surveillance round the clock.
As per the reports, six CCTV cameras have been installed at the bridge that will help to keep a check on the movements of Maoists as well as BSF personnel resulting in a better security in the region.
A tender has also been proposed for proper illumination of the bridge at a total cost of Rs 40 lakh. Over 60 lights will be installed on both the sides of the bridge apart from two high mast lights on its northern side.
An official informed that the tender process for lighting of the bridge is almost over. Reportedly, the 910-metre-long bridge will connect nearly nine panchayats in the cut-off areas and benifit about 30,000 people.
Notably, the foundation stone for the bridge was laid in 1982 by the then chief minister, Janaki Ballabh Patnaik and later again by the present Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik in 2000.
